Chronic Pain Management Group Therapy
The next group series is projected to start in Fall 2025. Please check back or contact me for more details.
Do you suffer from chronic pain? Has your pain become the focus of your daily life, leaving you with little space and energy to engage in activities that are meaningful to you? Individuals who suffer from chronic pain often find themselves also struggling with feelings of depression, hopelessness, anxiety, and a general isolation from others. This group aims to provide a supportive environment for individuals to learn skills to manage pain while also learning from other group members' strengths and experiences.
We will draw from evidence-based treatments, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance-commitment therapy (ACT). Session topics will include: identifying one’s life goals and values, strategies to develop a new way of relating to one’s thoughts, emotions and pain, stress management, activity scheduling & pacing, sleep health, mindfulness & relaxation training, problem-solving, and assertive communication. Group members will be guided to practice applying these skills in their daily life outside of Group. The ultimate goal is to help individuals begin to actively engage in a life that they value, even in the face of their pain.
